Situated in Kovan, this inter-terrace landed house has a land area of 1,700 sq ft and a built-up of 2,200 sq ft, and underwent a renovation that cost under $200,000. The home has two floors, with the living, dining, kitchen, and yoga room on the first floor and three bedrooms on the second. The theme of the house, stone, wood, cream, and the flow of the house with its ventilation blocks and glass panels, make it a bright and inviting space, surprising for an inter-terrace home that often has a reputation for being darker. The entrance has been beautifully redesigned with a dedicated foyer area, featuring an arch glass and wood laminated ceilings. The couple was hands-on throughout the renovation process, making sure that every detail was just right, including keeping the ceiling high to make the space feel more spacious. The large format 90x90 stone-like slabs for the floor add to the spacious feel. There was originally a wall separating the dining and the kitchen, which was hacked, but a column prevented further hacking. The couple came up with a creative solution by building ventilation blocks. The wet kitchen, which was originally outdoors, was closed up and made more practical with bi-fold doors that can be folded away to segregate the space. The backyard was a garden with a rambutan tree but was transformed into a peaceful Japanese zen garden. Valerie and Leon enjoyed being hands-on throughout the renovation process and it shows in the attention to detail in every room. Special thanks to Valerie and Leon for opening up their home to us! On final approach to runway 27L, the aircraft lost thrust on both its Rolls Royce RB211 Trent 895-17 engines and the pilots were unable to regain thrust. The aircraft crashed down 330m before the runway threshold and the right main gear separated, the left got pushed through the wing and the nose-gear collapsed. Of the 136 passengers and 16 crew, everybody survived the accident with one serious injury and several minor ones. A true miracle! One night, he and his dad watched something land in a field. Whatever has landed seems to unleash his father's inner turmoil, and haunted the young boy as he grew into a man. Years later, Edward goes to unearth the truth of what just happened and reckons with the legacy and shadow that it cast on him and his family. This sci-fi short by writer-director Josh Tanner and co-writer Jade Van Der Lei has all the trappings of a classic in its genre, seemingly hearkening back to the 1950s, which its evocation of Cold War paranoia, pastoral innocence and UFOs. There's also an ambitious, adroit sense of craftsmanship in the camerawork, VFX and lighting that also fits within the genre norms, where all the technical elements of the film work together to evoke otherworldliness and awe at the film's key moments. But unlike many genre films, there's also a meditative thoughtfulness to the writing and storytelling at the film's beginning that takes its time to observe the main characters and their relationship. Like many sons, Edward craves the love and companionship of his father, who he looks up to as the source of stability in his life. Their father-son dynamic is closely and beautifully observed, showing their bond on their own terms, whether it's through watching TV or eating dinner together or sharing silence as they stare up at the night sky. But when something falls out of the sky and lands in a field on their farm, their quiet life together is interrupted. The small inner conflicts of Edward's father noted quietly in the storytelling a sense of failure, and a longing to make a difference as a man and would-be soldier suddenly crack open. Edward then witnesses his father in a way he has never seen before, breaking the bond between them and shattering Edward's innocence forever. In the end, "The Landing" uses its genre elements and its unexpected reveal to tell a story about parental legacy, and about what happens when a child's idealization of their parent comes crashing down and they see their dad at his most tortured and ultimately vulnerable. By taking the time and space to build up the historical moment and the characters and taking the care to support the emotionally resonant writing with equally powerful performances all around it ultimately offers a moving story about love and forgiveness, where we can look at our family in their full truth, and love them anyway. According to the decision, after undergoing appropriate software and electrical upgrades, as well as crew training, the aircraft can take to the air again. The review, which was conducted by EASA in cooperation with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), the lead certifying authority, and Boeing as the manufacturer, took a total of 20 months. It included EASA's own flight tests and simulator sessions. The results of the review led to a package of actions necessary to release the aircraft for air services as defined in the Airworthiness Directive: upgrade of flight control computer software, including MCAS; a software update to allow an alarm to be sounded in the event of a mismatch between two of the aircraft's angle of attack (AoA) sensors; physical separation of the cables leading from the cockpit to the stabiliser trim engine; update of the flight manual: operational limits and procedure improvement to ensure pilots have the necessary knowledge to understand and deal with any failure scenario; mandatory training for all 737 MAX pilots before resuming flights; update the pilots' initial and recurrent training; testing of systems, including the angle of attack (AoA) sensor system; implementation of an operational pre-flight without passengers prior to commercial use of each aircraft. Additional Procedures at LOT: At LOT we also decided to implement additional safety measures in the form of reliability flights prior to integrating the aircraft into the network. Flights were performed by two instructors and a mechanic. During the flights, an additional verification of all the aircraft's systems was made at the operational limits, including at 41,000 feet. That way we verified that all systems were working properly and responding to pilot commands. Each of our five aircraft has undergone such tests, lasting several hours. As a part of the effective preparation of LOT's staff for piloting the modified version of the B737 MAX, the training department has created an additional tool that contains a compendium of knowledge on the differences in the software and operational manual. Intensive crew training: All B737 pilots received professional theoretical training describing all systems of the MAX aircraft. The next step was simulator training consisting of demonstrations and practical use of procedures on a B737 MAX simulator. All sessions were conducted by Boeing instructors under the supervision of our fleet instructors. In accordance with our internal requirements, each pilot made several flights with an instructor, during which they practiced standard operational procedures. Additional training was also given to the Cabin Crew. Discover Boeing 737-8 MAX The 737 MAX makes use of the latest technological solutions in its engines, wings and meticulously designed cabin. We chose MAX because we care about the comfort of our guests. The cabin of our MAX was created according to the unique Boeing Sky Interior concept, applied previously in Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Its features include special soundproofing of the cabin, ergonomically shaped furnishings, eye-friendly lighting, as well as easily accessible and spacious luggage compartments. To make your flight comfortable, seats were designed in line with the current trends and results of the latest research. They now recline at an optimal angle. The headrests can be adjusted in four different ways. All seats are equipped with handy compartments and USB sockets to let you charge your mobile devices. The MAX cabin is not just comfortable. Equal emphasis was put on its aesthetics. Dynamic LED lighting enhances the beauty of the interior. The intensity of light can be adjusted according to need or time of day.
