Are you looking for a way to monitor your computer remotely without all the difficulties of setting up and burning a hole in your pocket? Commercial KVMs are usually pretty expensive and its setup is quite daunting. As a home-based user wishing to do the above mentioned for a long time, I came across the piKVM v3 hat that works on top of Raspberry Pi 4. In this video, I will show you the contents of the package and demonstrate its connection and performance over local network as well as over the Internet. The building and setup process is not rocket science and I believe anyone can do it without much difficulty. 00:00 - Unboxing 01:12 - Assembly 06:00 - Installing the ATX interface board 06:32 - Power consumption and thermal check 06:53 - Setup and testing KVM function over Local Area Network 08:17 - Setup and video feed smoothness test over 4G Internet 11:10 - Final thoughts on piKVM This video is not sponsored by piKVM in any way and I funded the product on kickstarter with my own money. I'm making and sharing this video as I think that the product is pretty neat and "affordable" (if you compare it with a commercial one). If you wish to purchase one, you can Google for it :) #piKVM #KVMoverIP

In the heart of the new PiKVM V4 is a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 CM4102000 with 2GB of RAM, WiFi, and Bluetooth. PiKVM is not just an add-on for a Raspberry Pi board anymore but a stand-alone compact device designed with all our experience and your feedback in mind. This new design allowed us to make use of all CM4’s possibilities to unleash all of PiKVM’s potential. No more reliance on Raspberry Pi boards’ availability! While supply is still very tight, we managed to secure enough Compute Modules in order to launch this campaign. Depending on the interest from the community and the backers, we might have to split the delivery into two phases: an early batch using our current stock of CM4 and a second one later once we’re able to obtain more modules. We will post an update during the campaign on the stock situation and advise when the allocated CM4 stock is exhausted. Please follow the campaign updates! We will do our best to share the news and details as it progresses. The whole product line of PiKVM V4 shares several common features: All PiKVM V4 devices come as a complete product, equipped with all you need out of the box; a power supply, USB & Ethernet cables, and even PCI brackets to install the ATX board into an ATX or mini ITX computer/server cases. The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 is allowing us to raise the bar to an industrial-grade level. All PiKVM V4 devices are CE Certified. Improved WiFi connectivity with a port for an optional external antenna. 1920x1080🤍60Hz & 1920x1200🤍60Hz resolution support for increased UEFI/BIOS compatibility. New meticulously crafted steel cases with a smooth and slick appearance, light pipes, location beacon, SD card access protection, and a Kensington security slot. PiKVM V4 Mini features Equipped with all core features you need to control a remote PC just as if you were sitting in front of it: -Capture video signal up to 1920x1200🤍60 Hz with audio and deliver it to your browser using WebRTC and efficient H.264 encoding -Transfer your mouse and keyboard actions to a remote PC -Take full control of a remote PC’s power: remote reset or reboot using the actual hardware reset & power buttons connector functions. -Access to all configuration settings of a remote computer like tweaking UEFI/BIOS settings to do some overclocking! -Boot a controlled PC using any OS you need using mass storage device emulation support. You can even reinstall the system remotely! -Fanless design with a passive heatsink for quiet operation -Includes a locator led simplifying your device search -Improved power consumption in idle mode: just 2.67 Watts!
