After I grabbed the World Record in this category with the first sub-hour run, GreyBeardGaming fired back. ...Setting a new WR by running my routing 5 minutes faster than I had, in ~53 minutes. And bringing me back to this run with some routing updates, to try for a sub-50 minute time. [THE RUN] This run implements new routing (that I developed for the Career-mode version of TTU) to replace science collection at the KSC. It eliminates the need of running Jeb around for extra surface samples, so we can just grab science from the ladder and go. It also drops excess science collection on the ascent of the first Minmus launch for an immediate lift-off and continuous burn to Minmus height; And borrows GreyBeardGaming's suicide burns at Minmus landing for more immediate landings. Altogether saving another 11 minutes over my last PB, 6 minutes over GreyBeardGaming's WR, and bringing this run in under 50 minutes. And, having reviewed my efforts here, sub-40 is doable! KSP's 100% category requires all landable bodies (planets AND moons) be flagged by a Kerbal who safely returns to Kerbin. In this Science-mode speedrun we must also acquire enough science to unlock the entire tech tree in R&D upon return to Kerbin. Having built up some chops in the Tech Tree Unlock categories, borrowed the basic premise from MrShannon's 100% and 'Land All Planets' runs, and grinded this route in over the past couple weeks... I now submit a sub-2 hour 100% science-mode speedrun of Kerbal Space Program. This will be my 4th WR on the boards, and three held concurrently! [THE RUN] Mixed feelings about this run, honestly. My sense is that this route can be brought in under 1h 30m with practice. Eve and Gilly landings can be refined and pushed to their limits, instead of clumsily bumbled to completion; Timings and transfers can be performed generally quicker, cleaner, and with more of a plan and intent, than an improvisation. The important factors in flying the "Magic Ship" here, seem to lie in avoiding gimbal loss during harsh transfers by traveling at healthy angles. Flight directly toward or away from the gravity well ruins the navball nodes and over-complicates burns. Use of landed timewarp can acquire transfer vectors that cost little time up front, saving minutes of corrections on the backend. So, in other words: All this can be done a LOT better. But, rather than continue the grind here in the Science-mode category of KSP's 100% speedrun I'm taking what I've learned bringing this run sub-2 hours, and going after the 100% Career mode run. And I'm hoping that, by the time I'm ready to submit a 100% Career-mode, it TOO will come in under 2 hours. Back in the day of KSP 0.9 I built an epic rocket able to to to the Mun and back in under an hour, but 1.0 nerfed the rocket thrusts and ISP, and added in deadly reentry effects. After building a 7000 part rocket massing 127,000 tons I spent 2 hours boosting it up to 8km/sec before completing the run on a livestream. (apologies for the bad audio, at 1 minute mark, not sure how that happened, it does fix itself). I should have checked my Staging 🤍 Unedited Version: 🤍

Stock 1.12.3 glitched run Gotta go fast 302 frames 🤍 60Fps ~ 5,03 sec on video Game timer isn't very accurate but it shows 2 sec from launch to crash and then 2 sec until Bill safely landed on the ground...which gives around 4-5 seconds IGT. A frame by frame time in game counter would be great. If anyone consider this run as "cheated". Yes...after a decade the KSP Community have found numerous glitches that "legit" replaces cheats in the game. Here is the list: - KAL Engine Overclocking for insane thrust - KAL Engine Underclocking for infinite fuel - Recursive occlusion (description below) - Kraken Lithostaging - Part Clipping The "funny" part is that in KSP Speedrunning Community all of them still counts as "glitches". If You want a legit WR that doesn't use any trickery. Leave a dislike and go to this link: 🤍 Why the craft doesn't burn in atmosphere? This craft was so heavily glitched that it has absolute 0 drag in any meaning (0 lift, 0 drag, 0 slideslip). Stock KSP mostly calculates atmospheric heating as a function which contains multiplication by those coeficients so... heat(v) = v^x * z * 0 = 0 It "flies" like in a perfect vacuum. The limiting factor is the stock game itself. I could go much faster with a timewarp mod by lowering timestep of simulation. Extremely high thrust from the engine rip apart the vessel on the launchpad most of the times due to Kraken issues. Thats why I've used very "weak" engines to accelerate roughly at 2000 G's...absolutely pathetic. Rebuilding the vessel to be more durable is not possible because the weakest linkage is between part's that's necessary for aero glitch to work. Struts and autostruts only make things worse. Same thing happend by using a 1 physics tick manifold cannon (At the very beggining I tried to land in 2 game ticks [0,08 sec] but it's only reserved for octagonal struts and flags - not Kerbals). After lowering the amount of manifolds I've got some "stable" launches...but the speed was only 8000 m/s. Which is much lower than the *cough* pathetic *cough* booster strat. Attempts of insta - breaking before colision with island using glitches results ejecting kerbals out of the atmosphere at ftl speeds, vaporising them or ejecting with such low speeds that it takes them more than 3 seconds to land properly. That's why I had to decelerate after half of the run because rocket at that speed can easily phase through entire island or crash inside of it killing Kerbals in result. In example... if I hold the main engine burning all the way to the island at the end I will end up having 35k m/s. The game is checking for collision every 0,04 sec which results in checking for collision every 1400 meters. In order for Kerbals to survive the craft must hit the ground when Kerbals are still outside of the ground... the crash zone of this craft was around 1,5 m. Increasing the crash zone by expanding the fairing result's in a huge speed and stability penalty due to increased mass of the craft. Which means 1,5/1400 chance of getting a solid run... giving in result's 0,1% of succes rate just for landing... And all of that for a timesave around 0,38 sec (2,77 on recording - 2,39 calculated)? Sounds feasible and worth it... but right now I'm satisfied with actual results. If someone will manage to beat this then I will comeback and bring heavy weapons. Sub 4 is possible but it requires a lot of attempts (0,1% for lucky landing and 5% for a succesful launch without Kraken issues, giving in result 0,005% chance of succes). Best time save is by preventing Kerbals from bouncing after lithobraking (which is maybe 5-10%). So... 0,0005% for perfect run with increadibly high tuned craft? Forget the science, let's see how fast I can go from an empty VAB to the surface of the mun and then back to kerbin. And then, let's see how fast everyone else can do it. Rules: 1) start with empty VAB 2) build a vehicle one part at a time, no subassemblys 3) launch to moon, you may have already setup correct orientation. 4) land softly on moon for at least a second, a bounce does not count. 5) return to kerbin and land safely Stock KSP 1.2.2 only, no mods allowed, no custom categories, video needed for verification. I'll have another go, because I know I can do better, also, there are other records to attempt.
