Being a cat person, the story of Laika always reminds me of Félicette, the first cat to visit space. She was a Parisian street cat who got chosen to be sent to space by the French Space Program in 1963. Initially she wasn't given a name so the scientists working on the project wouldn't get attached to her but later the media named her Félicette after the cartoon Felix The Cat. Several electrodes were implanted into her brain and limbs and she was shot into orbit.
Unlike Laika however, this absolute little trooper survived her space flight. She remained "Vigilant" and her heart rate and breathing were normal except during the turbulent re-entry. Unfortunately, she got put down months later so her brain could be examined. Unlike Laika and Ham, Félicette is pretty often forgotten about when talking about animals in space. Near 50 years after her space flight, in 2017, a crowdfunding campaign was started to make a statue for her. The project raised £40,000 and the bronze statue is located at the International Space University in France.

Jsyk the Brazen bull story is a story from a Greek colony, about a Greek inventor, and a Greek tyrant. The Romans weren't a big power in Sicily for a few hundred years yet. The Romans did allegedly use it as well tho eventually, though there's no proof of any of this.
I have bipolar disorder and C-PTSD. When I get into manic episodes I will stay awake to the point of hallucinating and it's awful because it can cause me to have panic attacks and due to me having asthma it causes that to flare up. Then I get into a depressive spiral.
So, while it's not the same, I can to a degree imagine what FFI is like and I wouldn't wish it on anyone because it's a miserable experience.
