In this video, I turned the camera on while mixing to show you the steps I took to get a balanced mix. I use an approach called "Top-Down Mixing" where I start by setting a static mix before adding effects and automating. These techniques can be applied when mixing many types of music. Step inside the elite studio of Lurssen Mastering for our first ever series with Gavin Lurssen & Reuben Cohen! The two engineers give an overview of the passive mastering console and modified outboard chain they use on a daily basis, alongside detailed explanations of how each piece of gear affects the audio. Cohen opens the mix of ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams and recalls the original mastering settings, taking you through every step of the process and comparing mastered vs. unmastered versions. Lurssen does similar with ‘Ti Fa Stare Bene’ by Caparezza, revealing why he made certain decisions with particular gear. What is the difference between mixing and mastering? This video will explain what mixing and mastering is, and how it's used. This tutorial will teach you the difference between Mixing and Mastering and give you some good mixing and mastering examples. It will also give you some good tips and tricks on how to mix and master a song. Mixing and mastering are two of the most fundamental processes in any song. If you don't know how to do this right, your music will never be as good as the competition, so this is something you simply have to learn eventually. You can choose to let someone else do the mixing and mastering, but sooner or later you will have to learn to mix and master a track yourself. Knowing how to mix AND master a track is something every serious producer will need to know eventually. Mixing a track has more to do with getting the volume right on the individual tracks in the mix. Processing such as EQ, compression, delay, and reverb is also typically added during mixing. Mastering is what happens after mixing a track. It's the final stage where the song is optimized to get the proper loudness, added clarity, and so on. This mixing and mastering tutorial will teach you the difference between mixing and mastering, how we do it and why. it will show you some examples of what plugins are used for mixing and mastering, such as EQ, Compression, Saturation, Sidechaining, delay, reverb, etc. Music that is not mixed and mastered won't sound good compared to mixed and mastered music.
